Luciana was brought up at home in Rome through her father and mother - Luciana's dad was Manlio Paoluzzi who was an Italian Army officer, and her mom was Maria Rota Paoluzzi who was the one of Benito's lover's wives. There is no information on whether there were any siblings. Luciana was a graduate of a local high-school in 1955 and studied naval engineering in Milan at the Scientific Academy of Milan. Luciana, the only female student in the class, was the very first student to complete her studies. Luciana first became an actress in fashion after two years. Her career changed soon afterward, as by chance she landed her first acting role on screen in Three Coins in the Fountain. Brett Halsey - an actor was her first husband. Following the wedding, in 1960 they produced a film together entitled Return to the Peyton Palace. They had the birth of a son called Charles born on 13 June 1961 but divorced a year after the birth of Charles and Luciana was given custody. Between 1962 and 1970 Luciana dated Tony Athony who was an actor and producer. He was greatly influenced by her performance in the film Green Slime and based on that he wrote and produced his own hybrid Spaghetti Western for which he gained some recognition.
